James Richard Wonka

James “Jim” Richard Wonka, 75, of Georgetown Township, passed away at his home on Friday, October 13, 2023, with his wife Susan at his side.  Jim was born on June 26, 1948, in Frederic, Wisconsin, the son of Frank and Ruth (Sandberg) Wonka.

In 1968, Jim was united in marriage to Susan Chartrand at Fristad Lutheran Church in Centuria, WI. Jim worked for the Ford Motor Company for 30 years before retiring at the age of 49.

Jim enjoyed canoeing, motorcycling, four-wheel riding, and snowmobiling. He was a member of the Fox Creek Snowmobile Club. He served as Trail Boss and was a delegate to the Polk County Snowmobile Council for many years. Jim also enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren. Jim will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Jim leaves to celebrate his memory, his wife, Susan Wonka, Georgetown, daughter, Terri (Troy) Schmit, Star Prairie, WI; son, Todd Wonka (Chella) Vadnais Heights, MN; grandchildren, Eve and Kyle Schmit and Brennen Wonka (fiance, Bethany Larson), sisters, Judy (Bill) Schnur, Balsam Lake, WI; Janis (Dale) Federer, Moundsview, MN; sister-in-law, Shirley Chartrand and her husband, Chuck Stewart, River Falls, WI,  nephews, and other family and friends.  Jim was preceded by his parents, Frank and Ruth Wonka, brother, Jerome Wonka, and nephews, David and Jeffery.

A Celebration of Life/Visitation for Jim will be held at the Kolstad Family Funeral Home in Centuria, from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M.  Tuesday, November 14, 2023.
