Alcuin John Harren (A.J.), 77, of Balsam Lake, Wisconsin passed away at his home on Monday, June 21, 2021. Alcuin was born on June 8, 1944, in Morrison County, Minnesota the son of Raymond and Dolores Harren. He attended and graduated high school in Upsala, Minnesota.
He worked for the Upsala Land-O-Lakes Creamery, was a semi-driver for Herman Brothers, worked for Jerome Foods in Barron, Wisconsin, as well as Fire Engineers in Arlington, Minnesota.
Alcuin was a choir member at St. Mary’s in Upsala and at Our Lady Of The Lakes in Balsam Lake. He hosted foreign exchange students and collected Blue Willow dishes. He had a huge love for animals, especially Shire horses. He was a collector of antiques and told great stories. Even after being disabled, he had such a love for life. His family and friends meant everything to him.
Alcuin was a 4th degree in the Knights of Columbus.
Alcuin leaves to celebrate his memory: Brothers: Duane (Rosie) Harren of Upsala, MN, Gary (Mary Ann) Harren of Freeport, MN, Dan (Susie) Harren of Melrose, MN – Sisters: LuAnn (Kelly) Baggenstoss of Gaylord, MN, Lordeen Sowada of Little Falls, MN, Renee (Allen) Douvier of Freeport, MN, Mary Lee (Jim) Chartrand of Centuria, WI, and Joan Wenning of Holdingford, MN. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, as well as many other family and friends.
Alcuin is preceded in death by Parents: Dolores (Lange) and Raymond Harren – Sister: Cordelia Harren – Brother-in-laws: Charlie Goebel, Edward Sowada, and Allen Wenning and Nieces: Mary Harren, Dani Lynn Goebel, and LeAnn Harren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Balsam Lake on Tuesday, June 29th, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. Visitation will be held at the church from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass.
He will be laid to rest at St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery in Upsala, Minnesota on July 6th, 2021 at 1:00 P.M.
The Kolstad Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
