Alexander A. Wefel, 46, of Luck, Wisconsin, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019. Alex was born on September 20, 1972 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Clarence and Joy McKenzie. Alexander suffered from congestive heart failure and his illness was getting worse in the past few weeks.
All of his family and friends will really miss him. He couldn’t have been a better son to his mother and she will dearly miss him. He moved to Luck with his family in 1988 and he started school in Luck then went to Unity School. After his education he worked at Wood Goods, St. Croix Casino in Turtle Lake as a blackjack dealer for 3 years then he moved to Colorado and worked as a cook, then to California and worked as a blackjack dealer. He eventually moved back home and worked a steel worker in the cities and also for his friend Bernie, putting antennas up among other things.
Alex also did farm work for Ray Jensen when he was 18. At the age of 19 he married Charity Springer. Three children were born, Symone, then Ethan and last Evette. He became a grandfather to Elias Jacob in 2011, when he was 39 years old. Alex was a great artist, he could draw anything. He led a busy life and he had a good sense of humor and he was very loving.
Alex leaves to celebrate his memory: mother, Joy McKenzie, Luck, WI; daughter, Symone Wefel; grandson, Elias Bjerke, step-son, Ethan Wefel; daughter, Evette Wefel-Parenteau; sister, Alisa Huss, Luck, WI; nephew, Daniel Eliason, Luck, WI; aunt, Mary (Gunnar) Kaase, Minneapolis, MN. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence McKenzie, niece, Amethyst Huss, grandparents, Lucille and LeRoy Blanding and Vane (Ruby) Grushus.
A memorial service will be held at the Kolstad Family Funeral Home on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 P.M.
