Allen Bringgold

Allen Bringgold, age 81, of Milltown, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019, at the Amery Hospital & Clinic.

Allen Howard Bringgold was born July 2, 1938 in Rochester, Minnesota, to Lyle and Greta (Howard) Bringgold. Shortly after childbirth, Greta passed away. Lyle remarried Perdetta (Leichner) when Allen was 3 years old. Allen graduated from South St. Paul High school in 1958. He joined the United States Navy and married Marilyn (Berry) Peterson on May 14, 1960 at Concordia Lutheran Church in South St. Paul. He had numerous occupations, but his main career was carpentry where he was self-employed and also worked alongside his father. Together, Allen and Marilyn welcomed their three children, Linda, Pamela and Jeffrey into the world before moving to rural Milltown, Wisconsin. The family joined Milltown Lutheran Church where Allen spent many years as a custodian. Later in his life, Allen met Robert Kubicek and spent 20 years creating a life together until they married Aug. 26, 2017. Allen and Robert spent much of their time socializing with friends and family for dinner. The couple also enjoyed dressing up for St. Patrick’s Day in their kilts to celebrate the holiday. Allen enjoyed cooking and baking, gardening and maintaining his yard, which was very important to him. He loved decorating for the holidays and Christmas was always a very important time of year for him.

He is survived by his husband, Robert Kubicek, Milltown, and daughters and son: Linda (Kevin) Ek, St. Croix Falls; Pamela (Mark) Johnson, Grantsburg; Jeffrey (Michelle), Milltown; as well as 12 grandchildren Daniel and Kyle Galle, Elizabeth (Nicholas) Hoag, Emily Bethke, Seth (Allison) Johnson, Annah (Matthew) Noland, Hans (Leann) Johnson, Amelia (Trey) Graham, Alex, Mac, Leo and Henry Bringgold; five great grandchildren Gage, Leah, and Keegan Galle and Victoria Hoag, with Leighton Johnson expected in January. He was preceded in death by his parents and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Kolstad Family Funeral Home in Centuria with visitation an hour before the service. Pastor Angela Kutney will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home the evening prior from 4-7 p.m. Allen will be laid to rest at a later date. The Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Centuria has been entrusted with arrangements.
