Anna Rose (Hazel) Mortenson

Anna Rose Mortenson, 97, of Dresser, WI, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family on March 24, 2019. Rose was born in and attended school in Dresser, WI. Rose was born on January 30, 1922 to Albert and Minnie Bell Hazel. Rose married Carl Mortenson on December 28, 1938.  The couple made their home in rural Dresser, where they raised their children on their family dairy farm.  Later Rose worked for Lee’s Truckstop, Louie’s Inn, and Chisago House.  She participated in Dresser’s VFW Auxiliary in support of her sons’ military service.

Her legacy of generous love will be continued on by her surviving children: Lester (Pat), Bruce (Rita Rae), Doug (Karen), Roland “Sam”, Louise (Leland Lueck), Glenn (Linea), Cliff, Jane (Randy Messer), Jim, Jerry (Alex), Dean (Sheryl), Rita Lee, and Brad (Kim), her 37 grandchildren, and 37 great or great-great grandchildren. Rose enjoyed gardening, flowers, bird watching, and spending as much time with family as possible. Rose was preceded in death by husband Carl Mortenson, children, Beatrice (infant), Brian, and daughter-in-law Elizabeth (Bruce), parents Albert and Minnie Bell Hazel, siblings Victor Harden, Isabelle Chinander, Royal Hazel, Devillah “Bill” Hazel, Lillian Nehring, Nina Hoverman, Bessie Bergeron, Helen Alwin and in-laws.

The funeral service for Rose will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. at Pentecostals of New Richmond located 2024 State Hwy 65.  Rose’s family will greet visitors from 1:00 P.M. – 3 P.M.  Please join the family for lunch and continued fellowship at the church following the service.  Rose will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Kahbakong Cemetery in Taylor’s Falls, MN at a later date.

Should family or friends desire, memorial contributions may be sent to Dresser-St.Croix Falls VFW and Ladies ‘Auxiliary.
