Carol Lynn (Steffen) Nelson

Carol Lynn Nelson, wife and mother of three, died peacefully in her sleep on May 22 nd , 2014 at her home in Balsam Lake, WI after a battle with ALS. She was born on October 23 rd , 1958 in Osceola, WI with a twin sister whom she will finally be able to meet.
Carol graduated from Unity High School in 1977 and married her high school sweetheart Mark Nelson on June 26th, 1976. She dedicated her life to building a home and raising their three children. She also spent some time working at Andersons Windows. Finding out she was going to be a grandmother was one of the happiest moments of her life. She adored her grandchildren and lived every moment with them as a blessing. She was a lover of her flower garden and enjoyed watching the flowers flourish and blossom; especially the roses and lilies.
Carol is preceded in death by her mother Doris Steffen, her father Vernon Getschel, and her twin sister.
Carol is survived by her husband of 37 years, Mark Nelson and their three children, Barb Qualle of Balsam Lake, Lisa Nelson of Dresser, and Michael Nelson of Burnsville, MN. She is also survived by three loving grandchildren, Marcus, Hunter, and Chloe; father Charlie E. Steffen of Webster; two sisters and one brother, Cheri Kromrey (Ed) of Cameron, David Steffen (Camilla) of Park Rapids, MN, and Angie Steffen of Grantsburg; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews and other loving family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 27 th from 5:00-7:00 pm at Kolstad Family Funeral Home in Centuria, WI. The funeral will be on Wednesday, May 28 th at 11:00 am at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Centuria, WI.
