Cletus J. Tauer, age 84 of Luck passed away Saturday November 12, 2016 at Golden Age Manor in Amery. He was born December 16, 1931 in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota the son of George and Anna (Helget) Tauer.
Cletus attended Country School, followed by St. Mary’s School in Sleepy Eye, MN. He graduated in 1949 and attended St. John’s University, graduating with a degree in physics. After graduating, he was drafted into the Army Signal Corp. Cletus married Ramona Lou Maguire in Tracy, MN in 1958, together they raised 5 children. His military work experience then led him to a job at Univac, where he worked as a programmer for some years. He eventually branched out, starting his own company called Computer Aid which provided contracting services for several large local businesses in MN. Cletus and Ramona moved to Luck, WI in 2000 after his retirement around 1990. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Toast Masters and loved to garden.
Cletus is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ramona Tauer; children, Mary (Jim) Weida, Terry (Mike) Jeffries, John Tauer, Ruth (Dan) Lundgren; daughter-in-law Sally (Tauer) Braun, 12 grandchildren; Erik, George, Cortney, Bethany, Kaitlin, Isaak, AJ, Alli, Adam, Nate, Sophie, Patrick; 2 great-grandchildren, Winter and Maddie; brother, Alcuin (Arlene) Tauer and sister-in-law Jan Tauer.
Cletus was preceded in death by his parents, one son Patrick Tauer, brothers Larry, Martin, Roland and Fred Tauer; sisters-in-law Marie, Theresa, Betty.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 18, 2016 at Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, 507 W. Main St., Balsam Lake, WI. with Father Gene Murphy officiating. Family and friends may gather at church one hour prior to the Mass for a visitation. Pallbearers will be Erik Weida, George Weida, Isaak Tauer, AJ Jeffries, Adam Tauer, Nathan Jeffries and Patrick Lundgren. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Georgetown Township, WI where Military Honors will be accorded at 2:00 P.M. Please join the family for a luncheon and continued fellowship immediately following the service at church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church.
The Kolstad Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
