Clifford J Martin

Clifford J. Martin, 68, of Luck, Wisconsin, Round Lake Community, passed away at his home on Monday, March 11, 2019.  Clifford was born on May 28, 1950 on the Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation near Hayward, Wisconsin the son of John and Nora (Wakemeup) Martin.

Clifford moved with his family to the Round Lake Community as a child.  He attended Unity School in Balsam Lake where he graduated.   His best high school sport was track, where his specialties were cross country and the two-mile run.  His first employment was with the Wisconsin State Highway Department in Superior, WI.  Next he was employed by the St. Croix tribe doing tribal construction work.  Clifford was known for his good work skills and was very responsible.

Clifford was then offered a position at the Turtle Lake Casino in the security department where he had worked for the last 28 years.  Whether you were a guest or a fellow employee, he would always greet you with a smile and words of friendship.

Clifford enjoyed playing softball and golf; he liked going to the dirt track races and visiting the casinos to play.  He was a very avid Green Bay Packer fan.  He has been a great role model for the image of the St. Croix Chippewa tribe.

Clifford leaves to celebrate his memory: children: Lisa Martin, Baraboo, WI; Kim Martin, Eau Claire, WI; Katie Martin, Baraboo, WI and Robert and Josie, grandchildren: Kylie Martin, Griffin Martin, Jonathan Vissers and Clay Martin, siblings: David “Maabin” Merrill, Luck, WI; Donna Merrill, Luck, WI and Dora Merrill, Luck, WI; his companion, Mary, nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nora Martin and his brother, Theodore.

Visitation will be held at the Round Lake Community Center on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 beginning at 12 Noon and continue until the funeral ceremonies  begin at 12 Noon on Thursday.  He will be laid to rest at the Johnstown Township Cemetery following the services.

The Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Centuria has been entrusted with arrangements.
