Curtis Orville Larson

May 30, 1920 — February 24, 2018

Curtis Orville Larson, 97, longtime resident of Milltown, WI, The Iron Range in Minnesota, Bemidji, MN, Cambridge, MN and Park Rapids, MN went to heaven peacefully February 24, 2018 surrounded by loved ones, in Park Rapids, Minnesota.

Curtis was born on May 30, 1920 in Milltown, WI to Oscar and Hilma Larson, the youngest of 7 children.  He was raised on a farm near Milltown and attended school in Milltown.  He served in the U.S. Army in 1943.  He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping well into his 90’s.  He was a crack shot and a talented musician and had a never ending sharp sense of humor and wit.

He lead an active life and worked as a hunting guide out west, delivery driver for Pepsi, grain truck driver, landscaping, elementary school janitor, bus driver for Bemidji Bus Lines, Greyhound and the Bemidji State Beaver’s Men’s Hockey Team and finally retired age 79 from Lamb Weston RDO in Park Rapids, MN.  He was a lifelong hockey fan and loved the MN Northstars and MN Wild, he hated the Chicago Blackhawks and the Colorado Avalanche.

Curtis is survived by his wife Maxine Larson, Park Rapids, children: Candy Keatley (Barry), Menahga, MN; Curtis Larson (Patty), Lake George, MN; Cindy Anderson  (Terry), Hibbing, MN; Charlotte (Wayne) Levitz, Hurricane, UT; Tammy Eischens, St. Francis, MN; Bettina Schmaus (Ben), Park Rapids, MN and Tara Bourcy (Mike), Park Rapids, MN, his beloved cats, Milley and Sam and 18 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and other family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Hilma, six siblings, Edgar, Mildred, Stella, Kenneth, Hazel and Helen and one grandson, Timothy Shawn Bourcy.

He will be fondly remembered by much family, friends, acquaintances and loved ones.

Funeral services for Curtis will be held at Milltown Lutheran Church in Milltown, WI on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 11:00 A.M.  Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 A.M.  He will be laid to rest at the Milltown Cemetery in the spring.  Pallbearers will be family members.

The Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Centuria has been entrusted with arrangements.
