Donald Fred Nelson

On Monday, August 29th, 2022, Donald F. Nelson passed away at the age of 93.

Don was born October 3, 1928 to Fred and Gudrun (Voss) Nelson from Milltown, WI.  On September 19 ^th , 1947 he married the love of his life Iris (McClain) Nelson.  For the majority of Don’s life, he was a dairy farmer near Milltown, WI.  They raised four sons Larry, Craig, Neil and Dean and two daughters Donna and Gail.  Iris and Don also had a son, Bruce, who passed away in infancy.

The younger years of Don’s life he enjoyed baseball, football, hunting, fishing and horses.  After retirement he had a passion for woodworking.  Don’s faith was very important to him throughout his life. He served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher in his church at East Balsam Baptist Church in Balsam Lake, WI.  Don was known for his infectious laugh.  His family was the pride and joy of his life.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Gudrun Nelson; his brother Vern Nelson (and his wife Ann); and his brother Allen Nelson; his son, Bruce; and his great-grandchildren, Quinten and Reagan.

Don is survived by his wife, Iris Nelson; children, Larry (Sue) Nelson, Craig (Phillis) Nelson, Neil (Mary) Nelson, Dean (Debbie) Nelson, Donna (Mark) Mabry, and Gail (Karl) Lake; 14 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren; and his sister-in-law Carol (Allen) Nelson.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 10 ^th , 2022, at the East Balsam Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m.  Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m.  Don will be laid to rest at the Milltown Cemetery.

The Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Centuria has been entrusted with arrangements.
