Donna Marie (Frahmann) Barr

Donna Barr—mother, grandmother, and health care professional—died Saturday, March 6, 2022, at her home in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin. She was 76 years old.

Donna was born Donna Marie Frahmann on April 19, 1945, to parents George and Aini Frahmann in Medford, Wisconsin. She grew up on dairy farms in central Wisconsin, graduated from Colby High School in 1963, started college at Wisconsin State University—Eau Claire, then married and lived in Crete while her husband was in the Air Force, returned to the United States, and eventually became a registered nurse. In addition to raising her son Aaron, she spent her career in the Minneapolis area helping others by working in hospitals, special care units, nursing homes, and for insurance companies. Later, she moved to a small town in Wisconsin but continued working until just two years ago.

Donna had many interests and passions, including reading detective novels, trying out new recipes, tracking down bargains, and taking care of animals. Her house was always happily filled with projects underway and animals, including many house cats, an occasional rabbit, and, until recently, her beloved dog, Dusty. Donna crackled with wit and humor and was deeply interested in the world around her.

Donna is survived by her son Aaron, and her two beloved grandchildren Brody and Bree, along with brothers Duane, Jack, Dennis, and Russell, and sister Dianne.

A Memorial Service will be hosted at the Lord of Life Church, address 14501 Nowthen Blvd NW, Ramsey, MN 55303, on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at 2:00 PM with a visitation being held an hour prior from 1:00-2:00 PM. In place of flowers, the family requests that you donate in Donna’s name to your local humane society or animal rescue organization.

The Kolstad Family Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
