Elizabeth Sophia Olesen, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 15, 2018. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Liz was born on a farm in Trade Lake, WI to Oliva (Ginsterblum) and John Merten. She married her best friend Charles Olesen on May 1, 1954, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Centuria. They purchased Knickerbocker grocery store in 1955, in St. Paul, MN, they owned it for 2-1/2 years. They decided to moved back home to Milltown, WI, where they raised their four children.
Liz loved life and lived it to the fullest. Liz liked to fish at the cabin in Dairyland, WI. She enjoyed golfing and was also known as the golf ball lady at the Luck golf course. She enjoyed sewing at home and worked at a sewing factory in Milltown. During her lifetime, Liz made many good friends and loved each and every one of them. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Liz is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Charles “Chuck” Olesen, son Daniel Olesen (Deb), daughters Sandy Johnson (Ron), Cora Olesen-Galle (Jim), and Brenda Carlson (Ron), sisters Mary Anderson and Alvira Mickelson, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Mike and John, sisters Agnes, Alvina, Angela, Dorothy, Lucy, Margaret, grandson Rodney Johnson and granddaughter Megan Carlson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 20, at Our Lady of the Lakes in Balsam Lake, WI with Father Gene Murphy officiating. Family and friends may gather for a visitation from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass. Liz will be laid to rest at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Milltown. Please join the family for a luncheon and continued fellowship at the church after the burial. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren; Brandon Johnson, Brandon Scheuer, James Olesen, Tina Moss, Todd Olesen, Alec Carlson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Kolstad Family Funeral Home, Centuria.
