Herman J. Skog, 89, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, of Milltown, Wisconsin passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at his home with his family at his side. Herman was born on April 24, 1927 in Isle, Minnesota the son of Iver and Amanda (Erickson) Skog.
Herman was raised in Isle, Minnesota and graduated from Isle High School in 1945. He served his country in the United States Army from 1946 – 1947. He married Joyce Johnson on June 25, 1947 in Hudson, Wisconsin. The couple made their home in South St. Paul until 1978 when they moved to Milltown.
Herman was a self employed carpenter by trade. He enjoyed working, carpentry, cutting wood, spending time at his cabin and spending time with his beloved wife Joyce and his family.
Herman leaves to celebrate his memory: loving wife of 70 years, Joyce Skog, children: Paulette (Sonnie) Kapaun, Daryl (Deborah) Skog, Brian (Becky) Skog and Ron (Annette) Skog, seven grandchildren, Kenneth, Keith, Kellie, Brianne, Brandi, Stephanie and Jennifer, eight great-grandchildren, Justin, Bryce, Austin, Ashley, Ashley, Alexis, Allison and Elijah, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sons, Paul Arthur and Douglas Allen Skog, brothers, Frank and Bernie Skog, his sister, Eleanor Templin and his parents, Iver and Amanda Skog.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Milltown Lutheran Church at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Angie Kutney will officiate. Herman’s family will greet visitors at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Military Honors will be rendered following the service and then the family invites their guests to join them in the church basement for more fellowship and lunch.
