Ida Mae Hinz, 95, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2014 at Sophie’s Manor in Centuria, WI. Ida was born November 23, 1918 to William and Elizabeth (Buesgens) Eder in St. Croix Falls, WI. They lived on Sunshine Avenue until 1919 when they moved to a farm in Garfield Township. She attended Bear Lake School.
On July 18, 1942 she was united in marriage to Walter Hinz. They lived in Baraboo, WI, Columbus, Indiana and Cairo, IL. In 1944 they bought a farm across from Half Moon Lake, Milltown, WI. She resided there until she moved to Sophies Manor, January 23, 2014. She was so proud of her pink flowers on the hillside. In 1947 Ida and Walt started the Blacksmith Shop, then sold it in 1954. Ida enjoyed helping others and taking care of animals.
She was a lifelong member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Centuria and Our Lady of the Lakes in Balsam Lake where she had been an active member in the Altar Society.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walt, brothers, Leonard, George, John, Henry and Willie and her sister, Mary (Lawrence) Van Ruden. She is survived by nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 31, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Balsam Lake. Visitation will be held one hour prior at the church. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery following the Mass. Pallbearers will be Randy Freer, Nathaniel "Squeak" Freer, Lenny Olson, Curt Olson, Larry Cox and Hank Lynch. Guests are invited to join the family back at the church for lunch and fellowship following the cemetery service.
