James Wesley Hallgren “Jimmy” known to most as either Haircut, Boomer, Sidedump or Handlebar passed away comfortably at home while taking an afternoon nap on March 17th at the age of 59. He had put a tremendous effort for 18 months fighting his cancer. Jimmy leaves behind many friends and neighbors to grieve the family’s loss.
Jimmy had worn many hats in life but was most proud of being a self-made man as owner/operator of Hallgren Trucking. He has also received a 2 year award from DT Trucking for a million miles of safe driving. He always joked that no-one liked going to New York unless they were crazy.
He developed a good work ethic growing up in Dresser, WI, working for farmers and a local ski resort, Trollhaugen and he excelled on the High School Ski Team. He loved “trucking”, hauling milk, sand and block, etc… His travels took him everywhere.
He met his wife Lynn at Lee’s Truck Stop (of course) and settled on the hobby farm near Milltown where they raised 4 children. He loved working the fields with his tractors, raised beef cows, pigs, chickens, sheep and an occasional goose. He was a colorful character who loved playing pranks on good friends and neighbors. He would also be there in a minute if you needed help. He loved spending time with the “Younger” men around Cushing, participating in Tractor Pulls, Truck Pulls, Muddin, Homegrown Waterskips and anything that might cause a little bit of “trouble”... Jimmy would always leave you with a joke.
James leaves to celebrate his memory: Wife, Lynn Hallgren , Mother, Dolores Riegel, Sister, Sandy (Tim) Ball, Children: Kathryn Hallgren, Tyler (Kim) Hoffman, Christina Atkinson, Brandon (Tara) Davidsavor, 13 grandchildren, Niece, Kim (Doug) Kaiser, nephew, Nate Ball, Uncle, Ron (Barb) Schafer, Aunt, Carol Schafer, Many cousins and step siblings.
