John Peter Wilson

John Peter Wilson, 78 of the St. Croix Falls/Centuria, Wisconsin area passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at his home with his family at his side.

John Peter Wilson was born July 10th, 1939 in Lincoln Township, Polk County Wisconsin, son of Lawrence and Muriel (Nelson) Wilson.  He went to Goose Lake Elementary School.  He was very proud to be the last person that graduated from the Balsam Lake High School with his last name being Wilson in 1957.  He married the love of his life Kathie on August 25th, 1962.  John was a veteran of the United States Army having served is country from April 3rd, 1963 -  April 3rd, 1965.  He was stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma and Darmstadt Germany.  John started his career at the Andersen Window Corporation in 1962, retiring from there in 1997. John was a member of Legion Post 346 in Centuria.  John joined Fristad Lutheran Church in 1962. He enjoyed his hobby farm and had many different animals over the years, he had a very special passion towards horses.  John had many different hobbies that he enjoyed, his favorites being wood working, fishing, hunting season at his parent’s farm with his brothers and friends was always a special time for him.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.  They lived on the hobby farm from 1966 through 2000, then moved to a one level home, with a smaller barn so the horses could come with.  The new home is still on the original property that they owned just around the corner.

John leaves to celebrate his memory: wife of 55 years, Kathie Wilson, St. Croix Falls, WI; children: Nancy Wilson, Milltown, WI; Jodi Swenson (Darren Solfest) Houlton, WI; Christopher (Wendy) Wilson, Fox Creek, WI and Melissa (Eric) Peterson, Duluth, MN; grandchildren, Stephan Haack, Ashley Amirante, Brandi Swenson, Tyler Amirante, Paige Swenson and Brionna Roettger, great grandchildren, Xander Haack, Paxton Haack, Ayden Swenson and Kylie Lindgren, special friends, Becky and Wally Watland, siblings, Ronald (Christine) Wilson, David (Rita) Wilson and Shirley (Mike) Miller and other loving family and friends.  He was preceded in death his parents, Lawrence and Muriel (Nelson) Wilson, and brothers, Lawrence Jr. and Richard Wilson and three infant children.

The funeral service for John will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Fristad Lutheran Church in Centuria.  Visitation will be Friday at Fristad Lutheran Church from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. and again at the church Saturday one hour prior to the service.

John will be laid to rest at the Fristad Lutheran Cemetery with Military honors rendered by the St. Croix Falls American Legion Post 143.  Please join the family back at the church for a meal and continued fellowship.
