After a long battle with cancer, John “Jack” Foerst, 79, of Luck, Wisconsin, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Christian Community Home in Osceola, Wisconsin with his family at his side. Jack was born on April 18, 1935 in Superior, Wisconsin the son of Fred and Harriet (Wilson) Foerst.
Jack worked on the railroad out of high school and then as a mechanic. He worked construction until he retired from the 49ers. He loved his family; his grandchildren were his greatest love. He was an avid gardener; a good friend Tom Kelly would come over and together they spent hours in the garden. He also loved yard work, loved watching and feeding the birds, his dog Kitty and his boys dogs. His favorite time of the year is spring. He enjoyed spending time in Jakes garage with his sons, spending time with his family and enjoyed antique cars and watching shows about antiques and traveling.
Jack leaves to celebrate his memory: wife Betty, children: Jeffrey Foerst, Julie (Jerry) Erickson, Jerette (Ron) Peterson, Jake (Paula) Foerst, sister, Mary Nichols, grandchildren: Christy (Dave) Scanlon, Jeremy Erickson (Sadie Simonsen), Deanna (Ben) Wheeler, Jonie Erickson (Randall Bazille), Brandae Hucks (Michael), Cassae Foerst, Heather (Rodney) Marek, Jacob Foerst and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Freddy Foerst and great grandson, River Wheeler and niece Jennifer Delys.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Kolstad Family Funeral Home in Centurtia, WI. Jack’s family will greet visitors beginning at 10 A.M. Pastor Danny Wheeler will officiate the service. He will be laid to rest at Pleasant Valley Cemetery at a later date. Tom Kelly will be the Honorary Pallbearer.
The Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Centuria has been entrusted with arrangements.
