Lia J. Rojas, 78, of Stillwater, Minnesota, and Ayacucho, Peru, passed away at her residence with her sister at her side on Sunday, February 25, 2024. Lia was born on January 23, 1946, in Ayacucho, Peru the daughter of Maximo and Angelica (Ocejo) Rojas. She is survived by her sister, Carmen Divertie, Stillwater, MN; nephew, Matthew Divertie, Stillwater, MN; nieces and nephews, John, Jorge, Tatiana, and Nils Berrocal, family by heart, Lucia, Samuel, Elizabeth, Yanet, Dylam, and Luciana. She was preceded in death by her parents, Angelica and Maximo, and her sister, Elsa Rojas.
Lia was born in a small Peruvian town, Ayacucho. She studied business administration in Trujillo, a city with a great reputation in education. After completing her studies she moved to Lima to work at the Peruvian Ministerio de Agricultura, where she worked and studied accounting. Her job took her regularly to Cuzco and cities southeast of Peru, Mexico, and some countries in South America. She took early retirement when her father had a stroke. She loved taking care of others, which benefited her Family by blood and Family by heart, which called her Mama Lia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 401 Concord Street, St. Paul, MN. Father James Bernard will celebrate the Mass.
Lia will be laid to rest at a later date.
The Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Centuria has been entrusted with arrangements.
