Mary Hahn (Steen)
Mary passed away peacefully on August 29, 2023, at her home in Milltown, WI surrounded by her 3 children. Mary was the second child born to William and Ruth Prentice on 7-13-1929 in Amery, WI. She grew up in Cornell, Wisconsin, and graduated from Cornell High School. She attended college in Eau Claire, WI for 2 years after graduation.
She married Roger Steen in June of 1955 and moved to Luck, Wisconsin where Roger was a teacher, coach, and guidance counselor. Mary and Roger enjoyed playing cards, snowmobiling, sporting events, and spending time at Doe Town with family and friends until a battle with cancer took Roger’s life in 1977.
After Roger’s passing, she married John Dann in February 1982 and moved to Milltown, WI. They loved spending time at their family cabin on Little Balsam Lake and going out to eat. John passed away suddenly in 1985.
In 1990, Mary married Martin Hahn and they had 21 years together until he passed away in 2011.
Mary is survived by daughters, Emily (Dale) Wittenberg, Lori (Ross) Stevens, and son Ronald (Kelly) Steen. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Kristin (Dan) Nauman, Joshua (Lauren) Wittenberg, Diana Wittenberg, Megan (Kyle) Filip, Amanda Hansen, Roger Steen, Avery Steen, Parker Steen, and step-granddaughter, Stephanie Stevens. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Libby, Brody, Kinley, Lane, Jorell, Keirreon, Kashton, and 3 step great-grandchildren, Lucas, Gage, and Scarlett, sister, Kathy Prentice, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin brother Lee Prentice, her brother Jerry Prentice, her son-in-law, Rick Hansen, and her husbands, Roger Steen, John Dann, and Martin Hahn.
Mary’s Celebration of Life will be held at Joy Lutheran Church in Centuria, WI on September 16th. Visitation starts at 2:00 PM at the church, service will begin at 4:00 PM, and following the service there will be a light dinner.
Mary will always be remembered for her thoughtful cards, telephone calls, and prayers to everyone that she knew and didn’t know. Her memory will live on in our hearts forever.
Memorials are preferred to Joy Lutheran Church, St. Croix Hospice, or Polk County Meals on Wheels.
The Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Centuria has been entrusted with arrangements.
