Maurine June (Chinander) Melin

Maurine June Melin, 90, of Centuria, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 13, 2018.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Glenn Melin; son, Timothy Melin; parents, Roy and Clara Chinander; brother Roland Chinander and his wife Viola and brother John Chinander.

She is survived by her sons Lynn (Sharon) of Atlanta, GA, and Mark (Mirjam) of Clinton, WI; daughter Kathleen of Saint Croix Falls, WI; daughter-in-law Debbie of Osceola, WI; grandchildren Ryan, Andy, Nick, Kodiak, Blaze, Lark, Meredith, Glenn, Travis, Dylan, Jennifer, Ben, Court and 17 great grand-children; her sisters-in-law Marguerite Chinander, Saint Croix Falls, WI, and Hettie Lou Garland, Ashland, NC; and cousin Dorrinne Weir Jensen Bebault,  Osceola, WI.

Maurine was born April 25, 1928, at the hospital in Taylors Falls, MN, and grew up on the family farm in the Lamar community.  She attended Lamar School and graduated from Centuria High School in 1945.  Afterwards, she worked as a clerk at Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative in Centuria where she met Glenn Melin.  They were united in marriage on August 19, 1950.  Maurine was a devoted wife and mother.  After her children grew older, she worked at the Centuria Post Office as a clerk.  She was active in a variety of roles at Fristad Lutheran Church, as a board member for Lamar Community Center, and managed the tax roles for Centuria for many years.

She loved her family, friends, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who she gathered to the table often with her baking, cooking, and hospitality.  She and Glenn loved to travel and visited South America, Western Europe, Mexico, New Zealand, Hawaii, Alaska, and the continental United States.  Maurine donated sixteen plus gallons of blood to the American Red Cross.

The funeral service for Maurine will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Fristad Lutheran Church in Centuria.  Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.  Pastor Valerie Peterson will officiate.  Music will be provided by Dylan Melin and Nancy Viebrock.

She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at the Fristad Lutheran Cemetery following the service.  Please join the family back at the church for a light lunch and continued fellowship following the cemetery service.  Pallbearers will be Glenn Meleen, Ben Melin, Court Melin, Dylan Melin, Roy Chinander and Royce Chinander.
