Raymond F. Smith, 81, of Balsam Lake, passed away on November 5, 2015 at the St. Croix Regional Medical Center in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin surrounded by his family.  Ray was born on April 10, 1934 in Polk County Wisconsin the son of John “Jack” and Bridgie (Sebens) Smith.

Ray was retired from the Balsam Lake Police Department as Police Chief and the Polk County Sheriff’s Department where he was a deputy.  He was a 35 year employee of UFE in Dresser, Wisconsin.

Ray leaves to celebrate his memory: his wife, Florence Smith, children: John Smith, Bill (Angie) Smith, Melvin (Sam) Smith, Jim (Laurel) Smith, David (Brenda) Skow, Brad Skow, Shelly Skow and Kathy Brihn, 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and other loving family and friends.

Visitation for Ray will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. and on Friday from 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. at the Apple River Community Church, 942 U.S. Highway 8, Amery, Wisconsin.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 13 at the church.  Ray will be laid to rest at the Balsam Lake Cemetery following the service.  The family invites their guests to join them for lunch and fellowship back at the church following the cemetery interment.

The Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Centuria has been entrusted with arrangements.
