Rod Preble, 69, a True Friend of our Village of Balsam Lake, passed away peacefully with his loving family and friends at his side on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. Rod was born in Saint Paul Minnesota, one of twin brothers, on January 1st, 1953. Rodney grew up in South St. Paul and graduated from South Saint Paul High School in 1971.
He married Lynnette on September 16, 1979, and they renewed their vows 30 years later September 16, 2009. Lyn passed away July 20, 2016.
Rodney loved classic cars and owned many classic cars over the decades, he showed them at Back to the 50s car show.
Rodney was retired from Polaris industries.
He joined the Balsam Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District and was head of the invasive aquatic plant harvesting project. He was a member of the Balsam Lake Township finance committee. He was involved with Faith Lutheran Church and many projects including food drive, docks on the lake by the church, additional benches, and tables down by the lake at the beach.
In the summer, Rodney enjoyed spending his free time out on Balsam Lake, boating, swimming and relaxing with friends and family. During winter he loved to snowmobile with friends and family. Yearly he and his wife would spend a weekend in February with lifelong friends at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake Iowa dancing their tails off at the Winter Dance Party, remembering ‘the day the music died’.
He is survived by his son, Justin Preble, granddaughter, Emilee Preble, brothers, James, Dennis, Larry and his twin Rodger Preble, sisters, Carol Bohrer and Shelley Preble.
