Walmar Axel Quist was born Nov. 30th, 1917 to John and Albertina Quist. He was raised on a farm south of Centuria, WI. Wally attended Lamar Public School. He worked at the Linseed Mill in Shaffer MN and the Twin City arsenal during World War II. In 1962 he bought a farm outside of Milltown, and while he worked the farm he continued driving truck where he was honored by Western / Conoco Gas Company for exemplary service as a long haul trucker with over one million miles of delivery without incident or accident.
In 1943 he married Myrtis Johnson and together they raised 5 children. He later married Fern Cecilia and they were dedicated in love and best friends until his passing. Fern was by his side as Wally passed away peacefully on Oct. 16, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Nursing home in St. Croix, WI. He lived a beautiful life of 99 years, and left behind an incredible Legacy.
Wally was preceded in death by his parents John and Albertina, his brother Vincent, his sisters Pearl, Margaret, Florence and Lila as well as his great grandson Ryan.
Wally leaves to celebrate his memory his children, Steven (Joyce) Quist, Linda Larson (Kenny Nelson), Dona (Terry) Lundmark, Kathleen (Calvin) Wehking, Barbara Quist (Tony Davis), Several Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, Myrtis Green the mother of his children, and Fern Quist his loving wife.
Wally was dearly loved by his family and community, and will be sorely missed.
A Memorial Service will be held for Walmar Quist at the North Valley Lutheran Church in rural Centuria, Saturday, December 2nd at 11am. The family will greet visitors at the church one hour prior to the service. Please join the family for lunch and continued fellowship following the service in the church basement.
The Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Centuria has been entrusted with arrangements.
