William "Bill" George Rovney

June 6, 1932 — October 28, 2019

William (Bill) G. Rovney, 87, Luck, Wisconsin passed away at his home with his loving family at his side on October 28, 2019. He was born on June 6, 1932 in St. Paul, MN to Nellie (Kuiken) and William Rovney.

He and his family moved a lot living in Cumberland, St. Croix Falls and Centuria, WI and Mora, MN. He attended schools in all those areas, graduating from Centuria and then on to Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN, graduating in 1955 with a degree in accounting.

He married Charlotte (Lumsden) on August 20, 1955 at First Lutheran Church in Cushing, WI. Bill was drafted into the U.S. Army in November 1955 and served two years and then four in reserve. He was discharged in November 1961 as SP-3-T. He and Charlotte were stationed in Arkansas, Maryland and Oberursel, Germany where they made a lot of Army and German friends.

After college and the Army, he sold insurance and was director of training at Planned Future Life. He then moved on to Birds Eye General Foods in Waseca, MN from where he retired in 1990 as Human Resource Supervisor and Personnel. While in Waseca he was a Cub Scout Master for four years, belonged to Exchange Club, President of Grace Lutheran Church, a member of “SnoSecas” snowmobile club and snow patrol. In Luck, he was very active in Luck Lutheran Church and Luck Lions.

Bill leaves to celebrate his memory, wife, Charlotte of Luck, WI; son, Bill Jr. (Kimberly) and much loved “Best Buddy” grandson, Aage, Eagan, MN; special friend, Dave Ruha and his family, New Zealand; brother, James (Carolyn) Rovney, Mankato, MN; special nephew, Christopher (Ann) Rovney, Mankato, MN; sister-in-law, Jean Rovney, Milltown, WI; brothers-in-law, Robert (LaVonne) Lumsden, Cushing, WI, Gordon Longnecker, Phoenix, AZ and William Jensen, Eau Claire, WI; nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Nellie Rovney; brother, Don Rovney; niece Tamara Rovney; niece, baby Shelly; sisters-in-law, Janet Rovney,  Marcia Longnecker and Lois Jensen and a host of great friends, Army buddies and neighbors in Mankato, Waseca and Luck.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the Luck Lutheran Church at 11:00 A.M.  Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 A.M.   Following the service please join the family for lunch and continued fellowship in the church activity hall.

The Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Centuria has been entrusted with arrangements.
